We exhibit compelling works of fine art and craft made by artists of national and regional reputation, and we offer fine art classes and workshops to further the development and success of the visual arts and crafts in the Olympic Peninsula.  "Local Scenes and Foreign Waters: Peninsula Landscapes and Greek Boats in Oil" by Sandra Offutt.

 

On Saturday April 21, The Art Mine Gallery will be showing the artwork of local artist Sandra Offutt. The exhibit titled “Local Scenes and Foreign Waters: Peninsula Landscapes and Greek Boats in oil by Sandra Offutt” will be shown on the second floor gallery located in The Inn at Port Hadlock. Meet the featured award winning artist from 5:30pm to 7pm. Light refreshments and wine will be served. The Art Mine Gallery is located at 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock.

 

Geography has a role in Offutt’s paintings; she lives in Port Townsend, where she is influenced by the blue sky heaven in the summer and many shades of green and grey in other seasons. Her spiritual home is an Aegean island in Greece, where she spends long weeks drinking in the bright light and deep rich shadows.

 

Painting from her memory of colors and shapes draws on all she has learned; growing up in many parts of the country and in Japan and Panama. She has studied paintings by many fine artists including watercolorist and with oil painters George Earl Fox and Robert A. Johnson.

 

Sandra has many awards including the League of Reston Artists and Vienna Arts Society in Virginia. She has been in municipal competitions in Berlin, Germany as well as being in many juried exhibitions.
